Body Positivity Workshop

This clinic is designed for those who want to regain/continue growing a healthy relationship with their body by exploring the challenges and fears that surface in outdoor rock climbing. Whether you are recovering from disordered eating or just want to build positivity and love for your body, this is the clinic for you.

Over the two day course we will engage in brief writing assignments to tease out our inner critic and explore this criticism through deep group discussions. We will utilize rock climbing as an exercise in building self acceptance/affirmation, patience, and a positive mindset. Over a campfire, we will create a nourishing shared meal followed by a mindful eating exercise with some of our favorite treats provided by your guides.

Together we will create a safe space to be highly vulnerable both with our emotions and with our bodies as we scale the rock cliffs of Smith Rock. Join us as we continue to build our tribe of uniquely strong and beautiful beings of every size, shape, and form.

The curriculum utilized in this clinic was developed by Kristen Ales and Sarah Regan. Kristen holds a Master's degree from Naropa University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with an emphasis in Wilderness Therapy. Sarah is a certified climbing instructor and a certified Body Positive Trainer through the Body Positive Institute of San Diego. She has been developing this clinic both on the West Coast and East Coast specifically for She Moves Mountains and Wild and Weightless to help create a deeper connection in our unique bodies and minds.
